Carbohydrate Breakfast
Breakfast
In the morning, after a long sleep, your body has been using fuel to keep all your complex systems going for a long time. In fact as you probably had your last meal in the evening, it has had to make those calories stretch over 10 or 12 hours. This means that your blood sugar levels are going to be low.
If you skip breakfast then these levels will fall even lower, as you expend energy while not getting any new fuel.
Not only will it lead to sluggishness, tiredness, lethargy and poor performance, but skipping breakfast could also be making you fat! As your blood sugars drop low, you are much more likely to crave sugary fatty foods, and in addion you will lower your metabolism-meaning you are much more likely to store excess calories as fat.
A complex carbohydratre breakfast (all bran, shreddies, porridge) will give you a steady supply of energy during the morning, improving how you feel and perform.
