A big congratulations this evening to DDW client Diana who completed her longest ever (and first) cycle race. The palace to palace bike event, which is now in it’s 7th year, is run by the Prince’s Trust and saw 3000 participants cycle from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle along a scenic route through London, Surrey and Berkshire. The race has raised over £1.1 million for the Trust, supporting young people.
The route takes riders from St Jame’s Park, through Fulham, Putney, Richmond Park, KIngston Upon Thames, Virginia Water and then on through Egham to Windsor.
A relative novice to biking, Diana completed her training routine on schedule and has grown in both ability, speed, stamina and confidence. An early race schedule of 5 hours was blown away with her finishing in 3hrs and 56 minutes, despite the many traffic lights in central London, large number of riders and sub-zero conditions at the start! Although he completed many of the training rides with her Diets Don’t Work PT Adam Atkinson “copped out” of the actual race (her words!) but was at least there to congratulate her on the finish line.
She is duly awarded 5 gold stars. Why not enter the event for next year, get fit and raise some money for charity! One of our supportive personal trainers can design a bespoke training programme for you to ensure that you do well.
